Have you ever thought about opening a comedy club, but don’t know where to begin? Most people naively think that you need a good comedian to draw audiences, but really you need good audiences to draw good comedians. There are many common missteps and uncertainties along the path to making your club a staple of your city and have it operating profitably. Where some stray from the path, hold close these suggestions, for they will keep you on the road to success

First, what most people don’t realize about comedy clubs is that they don’t open huge. Since all you need for a comedy club is a stage, a microphone, a bar, and an audience, its easy to arrange a comedy “room” inside an existing bar or nightclub. This simple fact is great for someone just starting out: the start up costs are low as are the risks. You wont have to spend big bucks a new big screen television, or a fancy complicated sound system. Depending on the size of your city and the loyalty of your audience, your club might only have one performance a week.

Sometimes the population inst too familiar with live comedy, they have yet to experience the contagious laughter in the crowd and the unique experience of a talented comedian entertaining them. Make no mistake, live comedy is an outstanding form of entertainment that will easily spread by word. After attending a show people will tell their friends what a great time they had at the club. Who wouldn’t want to have fun at a fresh new venue in town?

As your audience grows and so does your budget, you can expand your schedule, and even look towards moving into your own building. This strategy has guided many of the most successful comedy club owners across the country, and a modest start can turn into a spectacular establishment. You’ll be amazed as you watch your business swell with interest and income as word of mouth draws more and more patrons.

To prepare for your eventual success, start with an agency that can see you all the way through. Whether you’re working on a trim budget, or looking to book Jay Leno, comedy club booking agencies can find the right comedians for your audience and budget. They have experience doing this, and they know what act at what price is the best fit. As your club grows, you’ll book bigger comics, which will draw bigger crowds–a beautiful business plan, indeed.

London is rife with gay bars and facilities that allow you to paint the town pink. With a host of funky, trendy, basic or even relaxing London gay bars, it is perhaps understandable that thousands of gay revellers pile into hundreds of gay bars on a daily basis. However, gay bars can often mix hand in hand in with hazards and it is always best to keep your wits about you. 9 in ten men who frequent London gay bars are genuine and out for a good time, but vigilance is still key. Although we aren’t bombarded with reports about gay date rape, it is not to say it doesn’t go on. Be vigilant, don’t leave your drink unattended and have a friend watch out for you.

London gay bars are synonymous with rendezvous and hook ups, but be cautious, don’t rush it, and suss your man out before you allow yourself to be vulnerable. There have been a number of instances in which gay men have fallen foul to imposters and con men they have met in gay bars. You don’t want to wind up a story that hits the pink printing press as one of a string of victims, robbed at the hands of a con man you met whilst frequenting a variety of London gay bars.

Islington police have recovered a host of expensive electrical equipment, thought to be stolen from the homes of gay men in and around the capital. The offender is thought to have met his victims in gay bars. Police are currently questioning a suspect who is alleged to have met his victim in the Quebec Pub near Marble arch one of many frequented London gay bars.

The pair was reported to have returned to the victim’s home in Islington where they continued drinking. The victim who has not been named awoke to find a selection property missing. The stolen items included two Nokia mobile phones, one HP laptop computer and a Casio camera. The suspect has been described as a 36 year old white man, around 5’11 tall. He is known to frequent a variety of gay bars in the capital including the Quebec and London gay bars in the Stanford Hill area.

Commenting on matters, DC Jason Shall is from the Priority Crime Investigation united said:” We are fairly sure the suspect has targeted a number of men from the gay community who may feel embarrassed about reporting the matter to the police. The detective also added:” I would like to assure them that we will handle all calls sensitively we have recovered some expensive and high quality electrical equipment which we are keen to return to the rightful owners’.

What has the UK immigration law has to say for anyone who wishes to marry a British citizen? A United Kingdom immigrant may come to the UK to marry a Brit if she is at least eighteen years old, a fiancée, civil partner or wife. Any United Kingdom resident may bring only one person to live with the British citizen according to the UK immigration law conditions. Before you tie the knot, there are rules you have to be aware of and requirements to accomplish.

First off, is to consider obtaining an entry clearance to join a British citizen and live in the UK. The entry clearance is obtained through any consular offices or embassies in your country. Under the UK immigration law, before you can marry a British citizen, you must comply with the requirements and accomplish them completely in order to marry or engage into a civil partnership.

These are the requirements set by the UK immigration law for marrying a British Citizen:

- You must be over the age of eighteen and should be able to provide proof for it
- You will live with the British citizen for the rest of your life in the UK
- You and the British resident or citizen have personally met
- You and the British resident must be financially autonomous to buy or occupy a house and must not resort to the public funds and these public funds is also devoid from your dependents

If a UK resident or a British citizen brings you to the UK, the UK immigration law states that you will be granted a permission to find work in the UK to financially help your wife or husband for a period of two years. The wife, civil partner or husband of the UK resident or British citizen still together during that time, may be eligible to apply for a permanent UK residency. If the couples had lived for more than four years, the wife, husband or the civil partner will automatically be granted a permanent United Kingdom residency the moment they enter UK and settle there forever.

What about if you want to marry a British citizen or a UK resident in the UK? If the fiancé or betrothed who is marrying a UK resident in the UK plan to live there indefinitely, will be allowed to enter the country, as long as:

- The couple will get married in the UK within six months.
- The couple will live permanently in the UK after they are married
- The fiancé and the British citizen have personally met
- Couple must be financially capable to support and house themselves and not counting on the public funds
- The fiancé or the proposed partner will pay the fee of five hundred pounds for an entry clearance

Under the UK immigration law, marrying a British citizen would also require a certificate of approval. There is a fee of two hundred ninety five pounds fees for the certificate. If the couple continues to live together for two consecutive years, the wife or a civil partner may be granted a permanent UK residency.

Primary schools in the UK are broadly divided into state managed primary schools and private primary schools. State primary schools are
funded by the government and strictly follow the guidelines laid down by the law when it comes to admissions. A vast section of the UK population sends their children to state schools, as these schools provide education free of cost.

Private or independent preparatory schools, on the other hand, charge a fee for providing education as prescribed by the National Curriculum.
There are more than 2,500 private schools in the UK. These schools are known to provide better learning facilities when compared to state run schools. Good private primary schools offer more individual teaching and have better pupil-teacher ratios. They give equal emphasis on extra-curricular activities and organised sports to ensure overall development of a child. They also provide longer teaching hours and homework and have special focus on traditional academic subjects such as maths, classics and modern languages. Today, more and more parents are willing to send their children to these private schools instead of non-fee paying state schools.

Admission to these private schools is simpler when compared to independent secondary schools where admissions are based on competitive entrance exams. Independent primary schools are generally free to select their pupils. These schools are, however, required to strictly follow the general legislation against discrimination.

While some of them select students based on the financial condition of their parents, there are some that admit children on the basis of their
merit. There are also many of them in the UK that give importance to the musical or sporting talent in children during admissions. Some
preparatory schools, which are confined to a particular religion, may also select students from all races and religions subject to the requirement that all students will attend services irrespective of the religion they follow. Many of them in the UK may give preference to some children during admission if their siblings are currently studying in the same school.

The best primary schools in the UK always welcome children from all backgrounds, regardless of their religion or race. They treat all applications for admission on merit. It is also important to note that the level of ability of a child or the existence of any special educational needs plays no role during admission to most reputed preparatory schools. As long as the school’s management feels that the school is capable of meeting a child’s special needs, the admission of a child with special needs would not be a problem.

Most private primary schools provide the interested parents with an information pack about the school. Parents are also invited to visit the them and observe the classes and meet the school staff. If the parents like the school and decide to send their children to a particular school, they could even meet the head teacher. The registration form needs to be filled in at this stage. A provisional starting date and time is also agreed upon.

Most private Independent schools London admit children at any time during the year depending on the availability of places and their parents’ wishes. At the time of admission, parents are required to sign an admissions policy form wherein they undertake to pay the school fees, including the initial registration fee and to give a term’s notice in the event of withdrawal of their child from the school.

PVC guttering is available in a number of different profiles; Half round, square, deepflow and ogee are the most popular shapes, with every manufacturer giving a unique name to their profiles, such as “deepcap”, “polyflow” and “regency” for example. Names however can be somewhat misleading – half round gutter is actually more of a half oval shape, and square gutter is actually a rectilinear shape. Deepflow is a semi-elliptical shape that provides a greater carrying capacity and a higher flow rate, making it suitable for larger roofs and those with a steeper pitch. Ogee gutter is a more traditional shape, with decorative moulded lines on the front of the profile.

A variety of colours is available, with black and white being the most popular, followed by brown and then grey. Caramel, a toffee brown colour, is also available from a number of manufacturers, as is Sand, which is a light tan colour. Whilst all black guttering generally looks the same, white, brown and grey do come in a variety of shades, so if you are trying to match your gutter with your neighbours you should take a small sample with you to the retail outlet to check the colour likeness.

Whichever system and colour you decide to buy, you should make sure it is covered by a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee, which gives an indemnity against any colour fading or structural defects. Most of the leading manufacturers do provide this, but it always best to check – you should also ask whether the system is BBA approved or manufactured to the relevant British Standard.

Whilst it would be a great help if all manufacturers profiles were to be interchangeable in terms of size and fit, this is often not the case. Whilst there has been a degree of standardisation amongst manufacturers in recent years, particularly with the half round system, it is always advisable to check when buying replacement fittings – all manufacturers can provide this information and most publish it on their website. All manufacturers do however provide adaptors to allow you to join their systems to their own different profiles and to traditional cast iron half round and ogee profiles.

A recent innovation has been the introduction of “cast iron effect” PVC gutter. This effect is achieved by introducing a second stage into the manufacturing process, whereby standard profiles and fittings are spray painted, producing a stippled finish than mimics the appearance of traditional cast iron. The overall result is effective, particularly when the gutter is viewed from ground level, and the system is enhanced by moulded fittings such as hopper heads and “eared” pipe clips which closely resemble the architectural design of gutter fittings from the early twentieth century.

If you’re seeking for the best place to buy PVC guttering products, PVC Warehouse is your destination. They supply all of the following: PVC gutters, fascia, shiplap and all upvc roofline products including trims, silicones, glues for upvc claddings, dry verge roofing, underground drainage systems and all weather building plastics. PVC Warehouse also supplies full range of replacement upvc doors, door panels and upvc windows delivered nationwide in the UK at trade prices.

With the current down turn in the economy many hotels are scrambling to find new ways to generate revenue . One option that works well is to turn the empty bar or banquet room into a comedy club for the night. With a little effort you can be the comedy club in town and attract new local customers to your hotel. Laughter may very well be the best medicine for people facing difficult times and help the properties bottom line. Historically comedy clubs and other live entertainment venues have thrived in difficult economic times. In the 80′s during the gas shortages and recession the comedy clubs boomed. While we are in uncertain times this may be the case during our current economic downturn. Many comedy clubs are doing very well and most comedy concerts are selling out.

It is not difficult to prepare a banquet room or lounge for a comedy show but some things are required for a successful event. The room should hold 100 to 300 people with good seating and tables. Small cocktail tables are best but a banquet style set up will work fine. You want the audience to be seated as close to each other as possible, laughter is contagious. A stage or riser is necessary to give the audience a good line of sight. Some stage lighting is also required to get the full effect of the show and to help give the room a show biz feel. The number one thing required for a good comedy show is a good sound system. The greatest act in the world will fail if the audience can’t hear them.

The next thing you will need is to draw a crowd in the seats. Many comics claim to have large fallowing but most do not. The venue will have to draw a crowd because the acts will change each week. You must become known as the place for a great comedy show. Provide a quality funny show with good acts and provide great service to improve your revenue. Watch the little details and the word of mouth will spread like wild fire and your room will do very well.

If you have an ongoing relationship with a radio station this can be a great way to get the word out. Most stations love to be a part of such an event and the DJ will often MC the event giving them exposure at a great venue. You should also use posters, direct mail and e-mail. News paper adds are an option and you will definitely want to send out a press release. Some of the booking agents or acts have publicists to do this for you. Many clubs will offer a discount admission and make the profit on the food and drinks. Most all comedy clubs have a two item minimum purchase and you should too.

When accidents happen, they can be costly to you as you could suffer loss of earnings depending on how long you’re off work. Since the majority of companies only allow a certain amount of time off sick before they stop paying you wages, this can lead to financial difficulties fairly quickly. However, thanks to the new legislations that were introduced to allow you to make an accident claim both easier and quicker, this need not be the case.

Many people are dissuaded from making a claim as they feel it is their fault, and that claiming any sort of monetary recompense is morally wrong. However, think of it this way if you’re shopping in a store and you knock something over and break it, you immediately offer to pay for it, as you were at fault, not the shop owner. This is exactly the same as being involved in an accident you are the damaged item, so the other person should be paying for your repair.

Once you’ve decided to make a claim, you should see a specialist solicitor whose field of expertise is in accident claims. Not only will he or she know whether you’re applicable for a claim itself, but they can also advise you of how much you should be looking to settle for. Don’t be afraid to ask for their credentials and success rates in similar cases if they are of reputable concern, they will happily show you this information. Although it may take time and not be without a little suffering, the end result will be worth it in the end and help ease both the physical and emotional impact and accident can have on you.

If you’ve been in an accident which was not your fault Camps Solicitors can help you claim personal injury compensation. Their personal injury solicitors have one of the highest success rates in the UK for compensation claims. With over 25 years experience of working with the victims of non-fault accidents means that whatever the circumstances of your accident, from a minor fall to a serious car crash, their solicitors have the legal knowledge and expertise to help you. As one of the leading firms offering legal services and advice to the victims of personal injuries, they handle thousands of cases ever year.

Call them now to speak to an advisor, their phones are manned throughout the day, so if you still have any questions that are not answered in the pages on this site, call them, or use their claims form.
